Our mission is to Praise, Nurture and Serve together.

We have a vision of being church in the future which we hope will capture everyone's imagination....

Our vision can be summarised like this….

To be a loving community which makes, equips and encourages followers of Jesus to be people of hope in the whole of life. We long to see lives, the community and the world changed for good.

Responding faithfully to the climate and nature crises by caring for creation

As Christians we believe we are called to care for and nurture God’s whole creation as stewards of all He has created. This includes responding to the climate crisis as an essential part of our Christian walk, to safeguard God’s creation and work towards a just world. Climate change hits hardest the poorest countries and poorest people of the world. The widespread destruction of the natural world is a crisis for creation.
Here at St David’s, even though we are at an early stage in our journey towards becoming a more eco-friendly church, we believe that we need to address this in and through our faith, practice and mission as individuals and also as a whole church.
We are beginning to look at what we can do, both as individuals and as a church, towards creating a better climate for all. Eco Church is a national project organised by A Rocha and provides resources, support and ideas for us to use. As we look into different areas of our church life and our individual lives, we hope to work towards achieving bronze, silver and maybe even gold status.

We have now raised approximately 50% of the £82,000 needed for the repair and restoration of our 1838 Conacher Organ. We were delighted to receive grants totalling £9,000 from the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust and the William Brooke Benevolent Fund. We also raised over £3,000 from our three concerts in 2023.  We are still applying for grants, but realistically still need to make a final push this year ourselves.
Our ‘Sponsor an Organ Pipe’ Scheme is still running. We have a lovely leather book in which your name or that of a loved one or memory can be documented. Leaflets are at the back of church, or you can use our specific Just Giving page. You can also make a bank transfer to PCC Holmbridge 30-94-43 reference ‘organ fund’ or write a cheque to PCC Holmbridge, annotating the cheque ‘organ fund’ – letterbox outside the church door.  For more information speak to Sandy Wise 07718 762411 holmbridgeorgan@aol.com  or our treasurer Ann Short.  We’d love any other ideas for different fund raising events in 2024!
