Our mission is to Praise, Nurture and Serve together.

We have a vision of being church in the future which we hope will capture everyone's imagination....

Our vision can be summarised like this….

To be a loving community which makes, equips and encourages followers of Jesus to be people of hope in the whole of life. We long to see lives, the community and the world changed for good.

Organ Repair Fund Update January 2024

Organ Repair Fund Update January 2024

We are pleased to report that we have now raised approximately 50% of the £82,000 needed for the repair and restoration of our 1838 Conacher Organ.

The organ was built for St David’s in the Conacher Workshops in Huddersfield, at the time, one of the biggest organ workshops in the world.

We were delighted to receive a grant of £7,000 from the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust and one for £2,000 from the William Brooke Benevolent Fund.

Our three concerts in 2023 raised over £3,000.  We started with Musica Kirklees and the Soul Choir, showcasing young and local talent. A jam packed church loved the enthusiasm and music making, a real ‘feel good’ concert for a winter day.

Cream Tea and Brass followed with Hepworth Band – an outstanding concert. The band are going from strength to strength nationally and we are delighted that they have asked to come back in April for another matinee concert. Tickets will be available soon and would make a lovely Mothering Sunday gift, although the concert is a few weeks later.

We finished the year with an amazing evening recital with Daria Golovchenko, a virtuoso pianist from Ukraine now living in our community. We wish Daria well for her future career in the UK.

Jean and Les Chadwick held another very successful open garden and coffee day.

Christmas fundraising saw Helen Green working flat out (with help from friends and family) making wreaths and wreath kits and delivering them, and putting on well received wreath making workshops in the Parish Hall.

We are still applying for grants, but realistically still need to make a final push this year ourselves.

Our Sponsor an Organ Pipe Scheme is still running. We have a lovely leather book in which your name or that of a loved one or memory can be documented. Leaflets are at the back of church, or you can use Just Giving.

Or you can make a bank transfer to PCC Holmbridge 30-94-43 reference ‘organ fund’

Or write a cheque to PCC Holmbridge, annotating the cheque ‘organ fund’ – letterbox outside the church door

Or speak to Sandy Wise 07718 762411 holmbridgeorgan@aol.com

Or our treasurer Ann Short

We’d love any ideas for different fund raising events in 2024!     Thank you
